How to integrate Zenphoto gallery into web page

I'm very new to Zenphoto, but having a GREAT time customizing the look for a site that I'm working on. What I need to do is to have all of the Zenphoto stuff appear inside pages with the navigation and other design elements already in place. I've successfully edited the image.php file in the themes folder, except that the Zenphoto template that inserts the gallery code, always puts in code that assumes the Zenphoto stuff is at page top - i.e., the doctype statement, the head and html tags.

What's the best way to get around this? What template(s) would I have to edit to prevent Zenphoto from inserting these tags?

    in your theme directory edit the albums.php file for the actually thumbnail view pages.

    I've been editing the simple+ theme to fit into my layout. It's not an easy task. I posted what code i've used so far in another topic(search: center and it should show up).
