Just adding my 2 cents.
Once we get full exif support, I think it would be great if we can sort by date, but also sort albums by date (either based on album creation date or the date in the EXIF data of the pictures in the album)... or have some sort of a list where you can show which albums have the 5 newest photos (or something like that) or even display thumbnails of the 5 newest photos on the index page. This might be something incorporated to a theme, I guess.
Also, it might be useful to have a list of the 5 (or some arbitrary number) newest comments that have been posted.
Like I said, just my 2 cents.
