First let me thank you for such a nifty, elegant, solution for pictures, and for the helpful support forums. Zenphoto was the 2nd gallery I tried (one was earlier in the alpha listing...) and I'll easily recommend it when the opportunity arises.
One thing that would make Zenphoto perfect for me (someone who wants to share photos with friends and family and not the world) is having the ability to control who can see what at a granular level.
I'm a total newbie with this stuff, so I wonder if there's a solution based on how discussion boards/forums implement permissions? In some boards there's options to set users' permissions to see different forums based on their "groups" and permissions. So the admins could see everything and had their own forum invisible to others, some users could see forums A and B, and others could see forums C and D. I'm guessing (remember newbie here) that the forum software looks up a user name in the database and decides what to display. Would that be possible in Zenphoto on an album by album basis?
Or I wonder if this could be implemented some way like how the .htaccess and .htpasswd requires you to sign in at a certain directory. Can zenphoto have a .htaccess in each album requiring a username/password in some table in the database?
I already tried putting extra .htaccess in some album folders directing to a different .htpasswd than the one I have at the zenphoto root directory. It didn't work, but then again, I barely know what I'm doing.
I hope that all made sense. Thank you for the software. Right now, I've password protected the whole gallery with .htaccess and I can make two installations/databases if I want friends and family to see different things.
