default theme Thumbnails

the default theme makes the thumbnails square, id like to change them so they display as the normal image aspect ratio. im not very knowledgeable when it come to code, im not sure where to look to change this. any help would be apprecited

just go into the admin ---> options ---> image settings and you will see where you can change the width and height of thumbnails
