Trac Submission Etiquette

Hello ZP team. First, thanks for providing speedy and thorough support to me via my trac submissions and forum posts.

What I'm unsure of is just how much detail and help you'd like. I'm personally a dabbler in PHP, and as you've probably seen from my TRAC submissions I try to come up with a solution as a contribution to the project rather than just submitting problems.

As a dev team, I imagine that could either be useful for you or very annoying depending on how you like to work. So please let me know how you'd like me to proceed, because I'm starting to really enjoy poking around with Zen Photo and I imagine you'll have to deal with me for quite some time. ;-)

I can:
- do less, just submit bugs and enhancement requests
- status quo, take a stab at some code to implement my suggestions
- do more, submitting actual files to SVN (with some instruction on how to do that) or diff files

Cheers,
Pete

  • The active dev members are all in constant communication and a couple of us have SVN access. The best way to get in is to submit tickets to trac and keep in contact with us. But really, we take what we can get!

Welcome aboard and we appreciate the help.
  • Your sugggestions for fixes are always welcome. We may decide that there is a better way, but at least we have a start on where to look to fix the problem.

Who knows, when you get more familiar with zenphoto maybe you would like to join the team? I started with Zenphoto about 6 months ago. Then I was just looking for a decenent photo album software. But since it was open source, I dabbled a bit like you.

I knew nothing of PHP at the time, but I was once a programmer. Over the months I have learned a bit of how zp is put together. You will, too.

I fully agree with my fellow team members.
  • Thanks guys, I'll keep on with the submissions as is. Again, great work with the product and with the dedication.
