Nightly build install

Hi,
Just want to make sure I've got everything right: I downloaded the build (3-10) and uploaded EXCEPT albums, EXCEPT cache and into the themes folder each of the themes without overwriting my custom version of Default.

That way I should catch the typo to Default that was to be corrected and I made to my copy. And, whatever else you played with probably in zp-core files itself.

    That is correct. The nightly installs just like a zenphoto release. If you have a file compare program you can run it against the files in Default to compare to your custom version and see if the only differences are the changes you made.

    OOPS! Found out I didn't behave myself: I overwrote the critical zp-cofig.php.example file!!! Off to my host's backup to retrieve the file from Monday....

    I suggest you write down somewhere your MySQL settings from zp-config.php. Then you won't have to worry about overwriting it, you can just delete it, run setup and fill in the blanks.

    It does not matter if zp-config.php.example is overwritten!! It's the example file! `zp-config.php` is the only one that matters.

    Yes, I'm going to do PDF captures (Mac has it built-in)!!! I got my backup file but, before doing anything: should I still be prompted to run setup with the old file installed? I'm chicken as I did the update after doing my sort of 240 images!! Don't want to spend another 5 hours redoing them.

    trisweb: I only have the *.example file, never changed the name. It seems to have been working up to my overwrite, any reason to rename?

    Setup will create the zp-config.php file when you input all the information for your MySQL database. Once it does this, there is a zp-config.php file unless or until you delete it. Once it is there, setup and zenphoto get the MySql information from it.

    All that is kept in the zp-config.php file is the MySql informatin (and in some obscure cases a few other basic configuration bits.) Your sort order is maintained in the database, so as long as you do not delete the database and as long as you do not change the database prefix, everything will be there.

    All better. Restored the 1262 build. Then applied update without album or cache or the zp-config.php (found it :). And kept my 'custom' theme. It now reads build 1278. So, does that mean nightly builds as I add them do not require the zp-config.php file to ever be updated? Not that I plan nightly build installs, just as I see notice here for reason to do so.

    Not only do then not (in general) require an update of zp-config.php, they will not update it, they will only create one if it does not already exist.
