only some thumbs, only some images

hey all,

i just did an install on my 1and1 host:

if you check it out, youll see that only some of the images thumbnailed, and only some of the images display on the "image" page. the images do always display if you click all the way through to the full image.

i _did_ the faq suggestion for 1and1 .htaccess file, and it did help a bit...

file and folder perms are set to 777(!) just to be sure they werent an issue...

ive tried with and without mod_rewrite...

any ideas?

yup, looked at that...

admittedly, the i installed zenphoto at /zenphoto/ and then just symlinked /photos/ to it...
the RewriteBase was correctly listed as /photos but i just changed it to /zenphoto to be sure, and the problem still exists...

this problem is unchanged whether mod_rewrite is on or off.

if i go through the pre-cache images tool on the admin page, i get a bunch of stuff that looks like:
`| | | | | | | | | | |`
with just blanks n between the bars, while some of the photos seem to correctly cache...

im drawing a blank here... theres no real difference between the files that seem to work and those that dont...

is image file size an issue? is there a max? most of the files are under 2-3mb...

Quite possibly it is an image size issue. There is no zenphoto max on image size but there may be memroy or processing limits on your server that are causing the problem. So, look at the size of the ones that don't show.

indeed, i resized (more like re-jpeg'd) the offending images, and all the images now thumbnail and display correctly.

I don't want to resize all my photos as I want viewers to be able to download the original file so they can make good prints.

Is there another work-around of this problem so I can keep original filesize? I'm also using 1and1.

Change the memory limit of your server to process files in your php.ini. If you can't do that or you host does not allow it, you would have to link manually to your full images for download.
