I'm a new user of zenphoto and I would really appreciate if someone could advice me on the following questions (apologies in advance if some of the following questions have already been answered...). Just to clarify, I read entirely the FAQs and every other document in the main site but I did not go through all the questions in the forum. Also, I'd like to use the main zenphoto sw and not other versions (e.g. community edition)
Anyway, here's the questions:
Can any action be executed without permission? Can I protect the original image?
How can we create in advance the image shown in the image.php file (which has its size defined in options)? I have the impression that only the album thumbs are cached.
How can I load all images in the background instead of only next and previous one?
Gallery seems slow. Any suggestion on how to troubleshoot the bottleneck (i.e. find out if server creating image, server sending image or my home connection)...

No, the sized image is cached, too. Use the precache functions in the admin.

Since that makes everything slow on slower connectsion, it's not built in. You can build a theme that does this via Javascript for example.

It’s ok, I did some tests myself, but thanks for your answer. Basically if I set a password for the gallery and album, I can still access the image (and I’m not logged in as admin)… I have not tried yet, but what I meant in my previous post is something like: ?page=edit&action=deletealbum&album=xxx

No, the sized image is cached, too. Use the precache functions in the admin.

Not sure where is located. In the images page (in admin) I didn’t see any comments box which loads the comments attached in the pictures…am I missing something?

Sure, if someone knows the full path, that is possible. You could only secure that with htaccess and/or use and external albums folder.

No, if you are not logged in that will of course not work.

I got you wrong, I thought you mean the html tags allowed in comments. Comments are located in, well, the comments tab part of the admin.

Really simple, perform a search while you are logged in and then open the admin tool box in the upper right corner. There is a link to do that.

Just upload movies in one of the three formats mentioned. I should note that zenphoto is not able to generate thumbnails from videos (a standard image is shown). If you need that please see here: http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=2022&replies=8#post-11848

just another question on the matter please:
if I create a dynamic album using a search, i create an album with 0 pictures. Inside this album there is another album with the right number of pictures and it's pointing to itself.. is that how it is supposed to work?
Tags. Some tags are working, but the majority are not visibible. Any idea on the reasons? I added a tag to a picture, uploaded it again and now it's not showing at all! I refreshed the metadata and recached the album but no luck... Do we have a list of all the tags supported. What i meant with an earlier post (the comment question) was to show the caption tag in the description tag. i.e. I have a lot of pictures with comments in the caption and I'd like to show them in the description or somewhere else...

Regarding metadata zenphoto supports EXIF and IPTC.

Please visit our feature poll on http://www.zenphoto.org/category/News/ and vote for that feature. Currently it seems this is a real niche request and since our resources are limited we just focus on the most wanted.
