Let me at a last statement to that tell you that if you don't have the rights to that song or any other song (and you don't have even if you bought the CD) you are not allowed to do anything with it, especially not posting it on the internet. The copyright laws in your country may be different, the western world at least its not allowed in any way.
I don't want to discuss that here any further, because this forum is not the right place for it. And it's really not my business what you do or not.
Everything someone creates has copyrights regardless if that is music, text or photos or any other image. There is no difference. And it differs who actually has the copyright. The creator of the creation has the "ownership" and is able to sell the copyrights (the usage) to someone else, either completly or in part. It you want to use something from a site be sure to read if that is allowed. If there is nothing especial written, it's surely not (in Germany, where I come from, I don't need to say that I have the copyright, I simply have if it's my stuff).
If you made something yourself, you of course can do with it what you want. For example zenphoto is actually copyrighted, too, but we released it under the free GPL licence. Our (or better Trisweb's, who is the original creator of ZP) decision.
As far as I know the USA have something like "fair use" where it allowed to use copyrighted material to a lesser extend, but Europe does not have that for example. And I believe Australia doesn't have it, too. It's a complicated matter because internet is always international and even if sharing in private among friends is generally allowed to a certain degree, a web site is always public and everything you put there is considered a publication.
I recommend that you do a google search for copyright sites (I don't know any good in english).
I don't know about metacafe, but YouTube has an agreement with the music and film industry and pays a constant (probably not too small) fee to them for the usage. There were long negotiations before that.
