Is there a easy way to switch off coments for a theme or gloablly. I wish to use zen without anyone adding coments about the pictures as it will keep everything clean and stylish for my site.

Can you share how you have edited the comments code on your site please.

Just comment out or remove the comments-div that holds the form? It's in your themes folder in image.php if I remember correctly.
