Gallery Stats: Album count difference from actual upload

I AM REPOSTING TO CLARIFY SUBJECT MATTER:

1633svn - 100% install (no custom stuff) -- same problem arises again, thought it was licked:

Overview Tab:to Gallery Stats and the number of albums is still one more than I actually have in my FTP directory. I thought it would be okay when I started a new subdomain, new install, new album uploads.

ACTUAL (FTP view)
5 folders/albums

ZENPHOTO OVERVIEW
6 albums because 1 is an empty folder/"album" with a subalbum inside but counted separately

There seems to be nothing to easily show a true count of albums; subalbums and number of images. Overview contains part of the info and Edit Album contains part of the info (subs don't show as part of parent). FTP does not show the parent "album" for the subalbum.

Total albums including subalbums: 7 (an album constitutes one or more images contained inside)
Number albums: 5
Number subalbums: 3 [one or more above are the parents]
Total images within all albums/subalbums: 1000

So, in this scenario, there are 7 true albms and 1 acting as a holder of subalbums balances to 8. This may not be the best idea but gives something to solve the mystery of why there's extras on Stats.

One thing that I seem to be able to reproduce is that Zenphoto indeed does not collect SUBalbums automatically in the admin overview if they were uploaded via ftp. Simply hitting "refresh database" indeed does not do the trick but precaching / visiting the album does.
  • But what about my point of having the Gallery Stats indicate summary of albums and subalbums broken down so it gives Admin better understanding of what the gallery is comprised of. Otherwise it still appears there's a phantom album because ZP counts the parent separately from actual FTP uploads.
  • Zenphoto always has been a reactive album. This means it does not do anything with albums or images until they are accessed. That is one of its key features. That is also why the pre-cache images feature is there.

The only way to make things work the way you suggest is to "automatically" refresh all the images when you visit the admin page. I seriously doubt that many of our users with large galleries would appreciate that.

If you want accurate statistics, use the pre-cache button when you have made changes.
