Encoding, utf-8 and IPTC tag

Hi,

The job you've done since 1.1.5 version is amazing. Really cool and also usefull ! But - there's always a 'but' - I have, with the new version, a problem concerning the charset encoding of my images.

here is a link to one of them : http://maxime.goepp.free.fr/zenphoto/albums/montfort/pano_10_g.jpg

It contains keywords, and values for Objetc Title and Description. In both of these iptc tags, there are special caracters like 'é' or 'è'. The encoding of these fields should be ISO-8859. I'v build these values with Windows-ACDSee Software.

Once imported into zenphoto, all the IPTC tags are cut from the special char.

You can see the result here :

http://maxime.goepp.free.fr/zenphoto/albums/montfort/pano_10_g.jpg

'Prieuré' → 'Prieur'
'Vue générale du prieuré. En arrière, sur la ligne d'horizon, on devine la citadelle.' → 'Vue gen'

If I look in the zp-database, I can read 'Prieur' and 'Vue gen', so it might be the tool that import the datas that is my problem.

Concerning the configuration options : the charset encoding of my galleries is set to the by default value (utf-8).
In my database, all the zp-tables have the encoding values set to utf8_unicode_ci.

Any advice to solve this problem ?

Regards,

T.

Did you try the nightly build?
  • no ... is there anything concerning this problem that has been done since the last 1.1.7 release ?
  • Yes, the IPTC tags are now converted to UTF-8 when they are extracted from the image. You will have to load the nightly build, then run the "refresh metadata" function.
