Zenphoto 1.2.1 is coming

The development team have agreed on October 1, 2008 as the schedule for releasing the first set of bug fixes to Zenphoto 1.2.

Now is your chance to contribute to the impact of this release. Download the nightly builds and run them through their paces. Report any problems you find. The earlier a problem is reported the better chance that the fix will become part of the 1.2.1 release.

These nightly builds have been very stable and little new development has gone in so there is little risk of them having problems new to the Zenphoto 1.2 base.

  • Awesome! Cant wait for new releases. :) Keep up the good work ZP Staff!
  • Great news!
Would those plugins work with zp1.2.1 with no problem?
    I mean the stopdesign theme.
  • acrylian Administrator, Developer
Stopdesign is one of the four standard themes and will be included as always.
  • Well good to hear that!
I am gonna upgrade my photo gallery once the release is out.
    Thanks for the work acrylian.
  • The only thing that exists at the moment is the change log for the trunk http://www.zenphoto.org/trac/log/trunk. Click on the `Revision log` link that is under the menu bar on the top right of the page.
  • zenphoto-2008-09-14-trunk.zip
From fresh start this allows the creating of admin name & password but when you click to addNewadmin nothing happens...
  • This is working for me in release [2452]. Does expanding and collapsing the other admin fields work? There are two ways, first clicking on the user name. Second you can use the links at the top of the list.
  • I'm still dreaming of giving username/password for each visitor via ADMIN INFORMATION, and not having them have the ability to change them (seeing the Admin toolbox). The username/password via GALLERY INFORMATION is one that only allows 1 person to use or must be shared with all users. View only of *published* albums, no other privileges whatsoever.
  • Filed another ticket for localization issues :)
  • Thank you, by hitting expand all the view came up......
  • I agree with macalter. I need this option as well, since I cannot make different passwords for different galleries/albums.

And also for us newbies: A detailed howto about how to upgrade. I find the one already in use not complete.. Detailed instructions wanted :)
  • But you can make different passwords for the gallery and each first level album!

Give us a hint. What do you think is missing from the current upgrade instructions?
  • Well i cannot figure out the password thing. If I try to set an album password, im not allowed to enter. (yes, im sure ive typed it correct :)). So I have to set a gallery password, but that allowas all users to access all images?

Regarding upgrades, I miss detailed instruction on what to do with the older files. Shall I delete any files. Shall I just upload all the files in the new version? What will happen to the albums/images already uploaded??

Regarding updates: On update you should only replace the zp-core folder and the root files like index.php or rss.php (also the maybe invisible .htaccess file).

Of course you should not delete or overwrite your albums folders with your images! That should be logical..:-)

Also if you made a custom theme or modification to one of the themes you of course should not overwrite that, too.

And if it not run automatically you need to run zp-core/setup.php
  • And the theme files that are part of the distribution.
  • In 1.2 it seems that if an image is wider than 2560 pixels it is still listed in the database (the width column of the images table) as being 2560 pixels wide. Is it increased with 1.2.1? I frequently need to add images that have up to 5120x1600 pixels.

I am sorry, I don't really understand what you are asking. The only limit of sizes would be by your server: http://www.zenphoto.org/2008/08/troubleshooting-zenphoto/#11
  • Interesting, it seems to be fixed with the latest nightly build anyway, I installed it and it is saving the widths properly. With 1.2 if there was a 5120x1600 image, in the database it would say it was 2560x1600.
Then I just copied the latest nightly build on top of the 1.2 one, updated using setup.php and now it's working as it should, I didn't change any server settings.
I've also noticed quite a few other bugs have been fixed since the 1.2 release, which I am very grateful for. Good job.
  • Will the latest 1.2.1 release still be done today?
  • trisweb Administrator
In last-minute testing, I discovered a small gallery paging bug (can't access the 1st page... sort of annoying) that we're trying to fix now, but the release will still be done today in all likelihood.
  • Sweet!

    Oh.. and Go Bears!
  • trisweb Administrator
Bug fixed, going forward with the release now.

lucian - Go Bears! Did you go to Cal?
  • Yep, I did! Graduated last year, although my major was not CS .. a little too difficult for me, haha.. I just stuck to MCB.
  • trisweb Administrator
Yeah, because MCB is SO much easier ;)

Anyway, zenphoto 1.2.1 is up. Lots of bugfixes. Go download and upgrade! Thanks!
  • Thanks!
  • Thanks for the release :D Just a quick question:
Aside from the added locales, were there any changes between the 2008-09-29 nightly build and the 1.2.1 release? I'm using that nightly build and I just wanna know what files, if any, to replace/update. I would update them all but I have already customized quite a few of the pages.
  • Also I just realized that in a few days I will have been using zenphoto for 2 years!
And seen it jump from 276 KB at version 1.0 to 2,627 KB.
Great job everyone, it's a very cool script.

I'm curious, is this the same bug I've been complaining about for a couple weeks?

If so, I'm really happy to hear it's worked out! :)

    cheers

Indeed it was the same bug! I hadn't noticed your post, but I sure noticed the bug when trying to navigate the gallery pages both locally and on my server. Not sure why others couldn't reproduce it, but I tightened the page cases nicely so it shouldn't happen again.
