So...Who controls themes?

I have suggestion(s) for this theme: Effervescence+
How would I go about asking for a change... Does Zenphoto staff change themes? I know I can manually change it, but id rather not for every nightly build etc... :P

1) Place a check box in admin panel theme options to allow no full reso access to the semi-large random photo at the top (disable the link for example)

2) Another check box in theme options to not show random image in albums. I like it on the front page, but I feel its distracting in the album page. Ex: If you dont have a lot of images in an album, there is a semi-big picture, then the smaller thumbnail at the bottom... Because the random image is only of 5 images, they are displayed on the same page.... Its weird to see the same image twice...

More suggestions to come... Lol....

So...what do I do now?

For the four included themes, we do. You will hopefully understand that we generally won't add features one single user special needs. Of course you can make suggestions and we will consider them, but we can't promise it.

If you need a custom made or adjusted theme for your needs, you can make your own effercescene version. That's the general way to go.

    1) That option already exists: options / image display / full image protection.
    2) Also already there, you can set that on each album's edit page (Dropdown menu "thumbnail").
  • 1) No, not that full image protection. Its apart of the theme. Im not talking about the images in the album, Im talking about the random image at the top, its linked to the full image

    2) I don't mean the random thumbnail, I mean the random rectangular image at the top of this theme (doesn't exist in the default theme)

Did you then try to change the functions that control that? In case you don't know we have also a tutorial for plugins incl theme options on our site..:) http://www.zenphoto.org/2008/04/zenphoto-plugin-architecture/#template-plugins
  • I don't think we will consider making these changes to the theme as they are an integral part of it. However, there is nothing stopping you from making a copy of the theme and making those modifications yourself.
  • Thats exactly what I just did, thanks :) I thought it would get overwritten when I update, stupid me, rename the folder ;)
