flvplayer window gets cut off

I'm trying to add video to my site, but am running into some difficulty. It seems that the video shows up inconsistently. I often get a left-hand slice of the video (i.e., the full height, but only a fraction of the width, justified to the left). This seems to happen more frequently if I set the plug-in options to a larger size, and I can make it NOT happen by using a very small size video. Confusingly, reloading the page sometimes fixes it, then sometimes breaks it again. I have tried it in both my own them, and then the Default them to see if it was somehow my fault, but I get the same results everywhere.

Note also that this problem seems to be specific to Firefox on the Mac; I am not able to duplicate the error on Mac Safari or PC IE or PC Firefox.

Here's a test url if it helps: http://www.stanats.com/gal02/index.php?album=only-videos
(note that the thumbnails are incorrect; they're just placeholders)

I tried on Firefox 3.1 on Mac but I fear I don't see anything wrong. Did you check on the flvplayer site if that is maybe a known issues with Firefox. Note also we currently still use flv player 3 instead of 4. You could try to replace the included player of the plugin with the newer one. I think that should generally work but I am not sure if it will give any errors since the flv player 4 inconveniently dropped the color options in favor of full flash skinning.
  • are you using some kind of Adblock or adblock plus, any other ad blocking or flash blocking plugin for Firefox? Or well any plugin that might interfere with these things? might be interesting to hear if it happens if you disable the plugins for a wile and then try.
  • olihar: the plug-in disabling suggestion is a good one. i've tried it, but so far haven't found any conflicts. nonetheless, good idea - thanks!

acrylian: is it easy to describe to me how to replace v3 with v4? i don't think i need the color options, so maybe that's a good move for me.

    thanks!

The replacing is actually quite easy:
    - Download flvplayer 4.x
    - Rename the included file "player.swf" to "flvplayer.swf"
    - Replace "flvplayer.swf" within the plugins/flvplayer folder with the new one

I had tried that some time ago. If nothing got changed in flvplayer 4 that should still work. Well, you will see it anyway..:-)
  • thanks! i'll give it a try!
