Changeset 2999, tried it out too soon?

I was curious so I saw sbillard made some changes to two files in changeset 2999 and I thought they were about that wrong handling of cropped and uncropped imagethumbs. Perhaps it was premature to test these files in my installation, but I did it anyway :=), and unfortunately it did not work. So indeed I was too impatient or the solution is not a solution yet .
