Boolean & not working?

Hi,

Search with & doesn't seem to be working.

http://www.shootingpixels.net/zenphoto/

Is a small test gallery that I'm trying to perform a search on.

If I search for 001 I get results (an image named 001)
If I search for Hurtle I get results (including the image named 001)

If I search for 001 & Hurtle I get nothing.

001 is the image title, Hurtle is a tag.

Presumably this should just work?

Eventually I would like to build a more user friendly page that lets visitors pick the name of a Race and a bib number to find photos but as I can't get this to work via search I'm pretty stuck :(

  • No, unfortunately at present it is not possible to mix tags and other fields in boolean seraches. http://www.zenphoto.org/trac/ticket/977
  • Ok, thanks for letting me know.
  • Hello,

I have installed the newest stable version and I am just learning the functions of this program. I have been setting up the fields for my images, but one of the fields "special data" doesn't respond to a search. Is there a special way to enter information into this field for search to work?

    Thank-you!

You have to check on the options if the field you want to search on is enabled for searching.
  • Hello acrylian,

The options on the search are for Description, File/Folder name, Tags and Title. Those work just fine. But I have numbers and terms in the "special data" field of the edit image page. When I search the images attached to the numbers they are returned, but not images attached to the terms. I don't want this information in the description field because I don't want it visible (to the viewer). Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank-you!
  • There is really no such field. You have enabled the sample `filter-custom_data` plugin which just changes the display name of the `custom` field to "special data". So you will need to enable searching on the custom_data field. If a field is not enabled for the search, no data in that field will be examined during the search.
  • Hello sbillard,

Thank-you for your reply! I am very new at this; can you tell me how to enable this feature? I have figured out just about all the other features I need at this time, except this one. I am using a duplicate of the default theme.

    Thank-you! - Renee
  • options->search is where you select what fields are allowed in a search.

Really, the backend organization is pretty straight forward. You should explore it, you will learn a lot.
  • Thank-you for your time! I guess I was trying to make it harder than it is. I had Treat spaces as OR, checked. I didn't realize that would cancel the search for the filter-custom_data plugin. I am having an enjoyable time with this program! I will continue to explore!
