Zenphoto crashes when applying new theme

Hello,

when I try to apply a new theme, the admin interface will stop working (gets stuck in an endless loading process). Also, when accessing the photogallery through the browser it will likewise load forever and not display any images.

The theme I have currently applied is the regular standard Zenphoto theme.

Has anyone experienced this so far?

Any suggestions on where to begin looking?

Thanks for any help,
Bijan

    We will need more info like what errors are shown in the error log and a link to the site of course.
  • The site is http://blog.bijankafi.de/photography. As I said, I am currently using the standard theme and that works fine - as long as I do not apply a different one.

    Where do I look for Zenphoto's error log?

    Sorry, I must have missread. If the default theme or any other of the standard themes (plus Zenpage-default) works this is surely a theme error.

    Since you also did not tell what theme you are trying to use I assume this is a custom made theme. I would then recommend to read the theming tutorial and to compare with one of the standard themes.

    Regarding error log I was referring to your server's error log regarding php errors.
  • I thought it might be a theme error but I deleted the entire theme folder and replaced it with new ones. No change. The problem also happens with any kind of custom theme that I add (and have downloaded from the Zenphoto website before), not any specific one. So I think these are "standard themes".

    May I cite our themes page?:
    Please keep in mind: We officially support only the themes that are included within the zenphoto package (marked with an *). All others are third party themes and some have not been updated in a year by their creators.

    This means the standard ones are default, efferescene+, example, stoppdesign plus zenpage-default are standard ones. We don't support the others ones due to lacking resources. A "custom theme" would be a theme you made yourself.

    If these do not we need more info to help: Does setup complain about anything? What server do you run (php version etc)? What error is reported in the server's error log? If you don't know about your server's config and error log you need to contact your host.

    Hi,
    everything was working fine until I made this ever stupid mistake one never should make: I tried to change the theme, and now I got:

    QUOTE

    ..resulting in

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function checkforpage() in /home1/twofouap/public_html/Z/themes/zenpage-default/index.php on line 2

    ...when I try to look at the gallery.

    Anyone can help??
    Thanks a lot in advance, SzZen

    Which zenphoto version? Seems that the Zenpage plugin is maybe not activated.
  • Re-run the setup program. This sounds like some tables got dropped. Also be sure that the zenpage plugin is enabled/disabled as you expect.

    Yeah, thank you, you guys were right telling me to look into the enabled plugins, as I found out meanwhile by myself. I did not know that I had to install zenpage v1.1.1. Having done so the theme zenpage-default now is working......any how, now I have the next problem: after having connected about 5ooo of my maybe 20.ooo photos I get timeout errors all along....Anybody can tell how many photos Zenphoto is able to handle without running into these kind of problems? Thanks again...

    Actually that theme is meant to run without Zenpage, too. Will take a look why it does not.

    Regarding timeouts: When do you get these? Did you try to use the precaching? That is likely to cause overloads on many servers. Precaching is not really necessary. Please visit the troubleshooting guide on that.

    Tonight's nightly will have a changed version of the theme that should also run without Zenpage activated.

    Ref timeouts:
    Thank you, acrylian, for looking into this. Actually, it looks like that the performance is getting better, little by little, with time. I am in the process of connecting all of my photos with ZenPhoto, and album by album, caching the photos, which seems to help, but takes some time. So far I have connected some 7500 photos in 600 albums, and maybe precached half of them. Time out errors I´ve got both in admin and guest view, in admin mode e.g. trying to look at the albums, photos, or even during caching process.

    I didn´t answer the question ref the version; here comes the whole info:
    * Zenphoto-Version 1.2.4 [3716] (Offizielle Version)
    * Derzeit aktives Galerie-Theme: zenpage-default
    * PHP-Version: 5.2.9
    * PHP-Speicherbeschränkung: 96M (Anmerkung: Ihr Server weist möglicherweise weniger Speicher zu!!)
    * MySQL-Version: 5.0.75
    * Datenbankname: twofouap_znp01
    * Tabellenvorsilbe: zp_
    * Spamfilter: simple
    * Captcha-Generator: zenphoto
    Aktive Plugins:
    * class-video v1.0.0
    * filter-zenphoto_seo v1.0.0
    * flowplayer v1.0.3
    * google_maps v1.3
    * image_album_statistics v1.0.7.1
    * rating v1.0.1
    * zenpage v1.1.1
    Aktive Filter:
    * seoFriendlyURL
    o 10: filter-zenphoto_seo.php => filterAccentedCharacters

    Ref theme: Again thanks for taking care, but I think I gonna stay with the present configuration, even though due to my lengthy filenames, the breadcrumbs sometimes to not quite fit into the provided gray space...any way to adapt this, I mean to enlarge the gray space in height?

    Thanks and regards
