printLatestNews – latest images only option?

If I understand template function documentation correctly, there are options for printLatestNews to either show just news or news and images. Is there an option to show just latest images? I looked around but found none so far.

In my page footer I'd love two columns, one with latest news and one with latest images.

    No, but the image_album_statistics plugin has printLatestImages() and lots of other functions.
