We are nearing the release time for the Zenphoto 1.2.4 release. We would really appreciate any testing you forum readers have opportunity to do. We believe the release is stable, but there are always people who do things differently than we do and will find problems we have not seen.
If you can help us, please download the
nightly build and give it a good exercise. If you can, make this download on a regular basis from now until the end of the month.

The paypal plugin was actually a third party solution we included for convenience. But since we are a small team we decided not to include any third party plugins from now on. It is still available for download on our plugins page.

We made this decision as the result of user criticism specifically of some of the spam filter plugins. They seem not to work for some people and we are unable to help them with the issues. The criticism was that they were part of a supported release but not supported. So we took the only action available.

One thing you should look at is the contents of your database. Specefically the news and pages tables. Look for any records which are basically empty. There was a bug that would cause these records to be created erroneously. Delete any records that you do not recognize.
I've just started playing with it - but one thing I've found is that the 'duplicate theme' feature only duplicates the 'default' theme - no matter which one I try to duplicate
One other thing I've noticed - and this may not be a 1.2.4 issue, but since it's an included theme, I'll mention it here
Effervesence+ option for custom index page seems to only load in either the gallery.php or indexpage.php - none of the others...
It has a list of a few pages (like 'archive, contact, gallery, indexpage' etc)
whatever page I select - it loads the 'gallery' page.
Not a huge issue for me - just pointing it out.
That said, maybe we are not on the same page as to how this option works. Specifically, it modifies the link which would be to the root page of your site, no parameters, so that it links instead to `page/`. Thus, if you have a breadcrumb the base link will go to the custom page instead of the root page.
If you directly enter the URL of the root, you get the them index.php loaded. In the case of Efferevescence+ this page will vary depending on if 'gallery' has been selected as the custom index page.
A different example of the use of this option is the stopdesign theme. With this theme, the root page is index.php and shows the first six albums. But the custom gallery page is the themes archivepage.php script which is a more or less normal style zenphoto gallery index in that it shows all the albums (paged).
You can observe this behavior in Efferevescence+ by setting the custom indes to 'archive`. Then whenever you click on the album title in the breadcrumbs you will be taken to the archive page. (As I said, not so useful.)
My confusion stems from expecting this option to allow me to set a custom index page (in my mind this is the 'front' page) - It didn't occur to me that this is just the link in the breadcrumb.
If that makes any sense - (been on the computer way too long today)
Now I see that these options do work. (odd that they are options in effervecence as it doesn't make sense to use them though...) I was expecting the actual index page to be effected...

Take your current index.php page and rename it, say, gallery.php. Then create a new index.php to be the different one.
As to the options, you will note that they are in the section of standard theme options--available for all themes. With all these options, actual theme use will vary. For instance Effervescence+ does not use the thumb sizes for the album thumbs. So, of course, the list of pages is not screened by the theme.
Perhaps you can suggest other text from the description of the option which is "If this option is not empty, the Gallery Index URL that would normally link to the theme index.php script will instead link to this script. This option applies only to the main theme for the Gallery."

Tried with the default-Zenpage theme as well as I thought i had done something wrong in the custom theme I did, but still no go.
I have turned on Comments in all the places I think are needed.
Is the comment form present on the pages where the comment does not show? Are the comments by chance marked in moderation?
