Forgot Username and Password Help Please?

Um, so I feel really stupid here but I recently cleaned out all the saved info in my browser to try and fix a problem, and I inadvertently erased all my saved passwords and usernames. I don't remember my username or password for my Zenphoto admin login, and there doesn't seem to be any way to find out what they are. I can have a password change emailed to me if I know my username, but if I don't know my username what do I do?

Help?

  • I'm sorry, but that doesn't help me. I can reset my password, but it still won't let me login.

It's my username that I'm having trouble with, not my password. I tried entering my email address as the username, like this:

    Username: *****@gmail.com
    Password: *****

...and I get an error. But I don't remember even creating a username... maybe I did, but I can't get to it now, and I have no idea what it was. I entered my email, just like above, and put in the captcha to reset password. The email they send me let's me change my password, doesn't tell me what my username is. How do I retrieve my username?

Really frustrated here, I hope someone can help.

    Thanks,
    Laura
  • What version of zenphoto are you running? The link in the mail will take you to the Admin page where your user name is displayed and you can change your password. If you are getting to that page and change your password, just peek at the user name and try to remember it.
  • When I click on the link that is emailed to me, all I get is a blank login page. There is no username displayed.

In the email itself however, it says this: "You are receiving this e-mail because of a password reset request on your Zenphoto gallery from a user who tried to log in as laura.j.vaughn@gmail.com." Is that supposed to be telling me that the email address is my username? Because when I reset my password, and try to login with that username and my new password, it doesn't work. I am so confused right now.
  • No, it is just telling you what was entered in the user field of the logon form. Guess you will have to use the second part of that troubleshooting guide where you delete the administrators table and run setup again.
  • Aw man... that's frustrating. Granted, I don't really understand much about how it all works... but it seems there ought to be some way for it to notify you of your account name if you request it to do so.

Thanks for your help. I'll try the troubleshooting guide and see if it helps.

Um, I'm confused as to what it's talking about here:

"Delete the Administrators table. You may also have to delete the rows of the Option table where the name field is

    adminuser

    and

    adminpass"

There is a file called admin.php in the same directory as a lot of other admin files, is that what it's telling me to delete?
  • acrylian Administrator, Developer
This refers to the tables of your mysql database. You would have to use an tool like phpmyadmin. If you don't know about this you should contact your host.
  • Ah, I finally got it! I'm sorry, all this Mysql stuff is still very new to me... I feel like a noob stumbling through it all. Thanks again for all your help guys!
  • As to the user name: if the link is actually working there is no need for it. Besides, since there may be multiple admin users, which one should be sent in the link? It would be really interesting to find out why the link did not work, though. That is the real issue.
