Hi all,

I'm experiencing a strange problem with GPS data extraction. Sometimes, data is extracted correctly, sometimes not. I'm not sure what causes this...
Here are two images, both taken with Nikon D70s and geotagged with GeoSetter. The data of the first image are extracted correctly, the second image has wrong GPS data in the Zenphoto database:
http:// gallery.glotzfisch.de/test/_DSC4367.jpg.php
http:// gallery.glotzfisch.de/test/DSC_5344.JPG.php

from what I've seen, for the images that are not correct, the degree data is dropped and the minutes are taken as the degree value; here e.g.
47 deg 32' 34.81" N becomes 32.580660992908
12 deg 56' 12.49" E becomes 56.208507801418

I've tried fiddling around with the exif extraction files, but to no avail. As the images are both from the same camera and have been tagged with the same program, I'm not sure where I should start looking.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
thanks
Fini

  • I have no answer to this problem, but I face a similar situation with GPS-geotagged picture taken with a Nikon P6000 camera. The first funny thing is that it is typical of Zenphoto and do not show up with other programs like Jalbum or ACDsee, the second, is that it happens with picture taken in China (giving coordinate in Poland and Litvia) but not with pictures taken in Switzerland.

    Look at this
    http://www.zryd.net/zenphoto/beijing/Chine_2009-09-02+09-55-10.JPG.php
    Correct coordinates are: N 24°51' E 110°23' but in Zenphoto : N 51,824600010331 E 23,081000009139
It exactly what you have observed : degree is dropped and minutes are shown

    On the contrary here :
    http://www.zryd.net/zenphoto/flore/zermatt+079.JPG.php
    Everything is OK : N 46°0' E 7°46' N 46,005956666667 E 7,7798116666667

What a mystery ! and no help showing up
    Good luck
