The gap between thumbs and prev/next links

Hello!

I got a little Problem.
I am using the default theme, a bit modified and everything works great.
In IE7 everything is displayed as it should be.

If I try the new IE8 or the old IE6 I will find the the gap between the thumbnails and the prev/next links is much bigger than in IE7 where it looks perfect. (the gap is about 3 times as big).
Because I use the gallery inside an iframe in a page I have to do the height of the iframe much bigger than needed, otherwise there is no prev/next navigation to see. And this looks bad in the IE7.

So I would be glad if someone would know why this happens (I think about a CSS matter?) and how to fix this.
