Which one to install??

Hi,

I had zen photo installed and working perfectly. I have however needed to change this on my server so need to reinstall now... question is... which version? as far as I can see there appears to be three versions?? I'm a bit of a novice at this but had altered my theme and got layout etc all working the way I wanted and so on, just needed to populate my gallery. Thought I'd make sure and have the latest version so I don't have to constantly reinstall in the future? So... Is the best version at present:

1) 1.2.4 - Front page one?
2) The nightly build?
3) 1.2.5.RC1?

Also on a sidenote... Are write permissions etc only needed for the following files: albums folder, cache folder and .htaccess?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

    At this point I would suggest you use the RC1 or nightly build. (Actually, we should be making RC2 today, but it will be the same as last nights nightly build.)

    Setup may want to write to zp-config.php otherwise the above should be all. But permissions are a curious beast where WEB applications are concerned, so if things do not work, relax the permissions.

    Just installed the nightly build.

    I have loaded all files onto my server. Set permissions on: albums, cache, .htaccess and config file. Any ideas whats wrong? I tried the troubleshooter but can't find a solution.

    When running setup I had a few warnings but I don't think any matter? They are:

    magic quotes enabled
    set locale
    internal characater set is ISO-8859-1
    Strict Permissions [is not in effect]

    Also have one filemtimes seem out of variance but that was because I uploaded config a few minutes later.

    There is also a ? beside: Server seems not to be Apache or Apache-compatible, .htaccess not required.

    Can anyone let me know what I'm doing wrong?

    I had an installation working last week with no problems so not sure what I've done differently this week!?

    You should check your CGI logs to see if there are errors being reported. There are many reasons why the thumbnails might not appear. Could be the permissions on the folders (discussion above) also review the troubleshooting guide http://www.zenphoto.org/2009/03/troubleshooting-zenphoto/

    Also could be that you have mod_rewrite set. If the server really is not appache, then you need to unset that option.

    It was the mod-rewrite option in the admin settings. All sorted now. That option can't of been there in the previous version I installed as I never had to uncheck that or alter anything? Ah well all good now and up and running.

    Also... is there anyway of making the ratings thing back to the way that it was as it now has a red exclamation mark and a large submit button which both look rather ugly. I prefered the previous version I had...

    Sure, you can retrieve the old version of the plugin from the previous release. But of course, that version required a page refresh to post the vote and does not have the flexibility of the new plugin.

    The exclamation point button allows you to clear your vote. The submit means you can decide when to actually cast the vote.
