does ZP recognise my annotations?

Hi, I have a few events where I need to upload a large number of images files with peoples names attached. Previously I edited the name into title or tags after I had uploaded.
But I have started using Mediapro to catalogue my (too many years of) images and plan to tag and title the images then upload, probably by ftp directly into the sub galleries.
I have experimented with this and ZP does not seem to recognise my title (as opposed to file name) and tags.
Should it do so? and is there some basic setting I am missing in order for ZP to have all the data searchable.

Thanks
John

Zenphoto follows the EXIF and IPTC standards to process meta data embedded in images.

You can enable or disable certain fields to be processed on the backend options.

I have no idea what Mediapro is but some programms are sadly known to not follow the official standards to do their own things.

Even some Adobe tools do it wrong. For example on Mac I am not able to embed meta data using Bridge. I need to open an image in Photoshop, embed the data and then re-save it to make it work.

Some also don't store the meta data in the images itself but in a separate xmp file. To be able to process this you need to enable this plugin: http://www.zenphoto.org/news/xmpmetadata
  • With respect to the XMP metadata. Some tools store XMP within the image file as well. The same plugin with appropriate options set will deal with this as well.
  • Excellent, thanks. I have been embedding the metadata as my stock library wont take sidecar files.

I will get that plugin and test it.

    Thanks again
