getHitCounter() still needed?

I read that ZP now counts hits by default. Does this mean that ZP will count hits of all my albums and images even if I don't add this line to my album.php and image.php?
<?php getHitcounter();?>

Or do I still need it?

That is indeed what it means. You do not need that line any more, but it is harmless.
