On page slideshow: the definitive answer?

Hello,
I am pretty new to ZenPhoto, having left Coppermine where it is. I like the tool, but was (a bit) disapointed by the visualisation options: full size and slideshow.

I searched the docs and the forum, tried various hacks (lightbox, thickbox you name it). Nothing satisfying.

Is there, somewhere, a central doc page detailing:

1. How to setup an on-page slideshow (eg directly called from the album list page or from the image page)
2. How to setup a nice "overlayer" bigger image view (eg full size)

Lightbox or whatever, I don't care. I want it to work :) Even if I have to dig (a bit) in the template.

Would that be a plugin? A template hack? A library? Is there a documentation out there(wiki?)?

Thanks in advance for your hints/links/help!

Cheers,
Damien

    1. All standard theme feature a slideshow.
    2. All standard themes feature this also. The zenpage-default theme uses the thickbox script to do this, setting up lightbox would be similar. There are lots of threads about that. (Note that Zenphoto's default libary is jQUery which may cause conflicts with lightbox which is based on prototype and scriptaculous)

Also a good idea would be to read our theming tutorial.
  • Hello Acrylian,
    Thanks for your reply.

I had seen the slideshow function which is quite nice, but does not quite (in my humble opinion) match the "fun" aspect of a lightbox-like effet.

Out of the box, I am getting a blank window upon a click on the "full size" image.

Suggestion: for most beginners, it would be best to activate thickbox or whatever by default.

In any case, I will look again at the theming tutos which seem quite detailed.

    Thanks again!

You might need to check the full image protection setting. These box scripts need access to the full image.

Well, in my opinion a slideshow and a lightbox generally are two different things in my opinion. Btw, thickbox is already included in the package (zenpage-default theme uses it for the full image).
  • Hello Acrylian,
Thanks for taking the time to answer this post, and please excuse me for not responding earlier.

I have tried several settings for image protection and indeed tried to unlock everything when (back to defaults) when it kept not working (the way I wanted).

Yet the default theme does not make use of thickbox, I had to alter the template to add the "rel" info to the link.

Anywhay, thanks again for the tools which is already very nice and also very promising :)

    BR,
    Damien
