Not allowing full images, or at least resizing them

Hello,

I'm currently modifying ZenPhoto for a client, and I don't want them to be able to click the image or in fact upload the actual full-size image. Are there any plugins or ways to disallow the fullsize image to be viewed without having to manually delete them?

The reason is because they're on a shared server with limited space, and with each image being around 1.5mb in addition to the re-sized image and the thumbnails, it all adds up.

The full images in the folders are needed to generate the resized images and are the actually albums. If you remove them and change something later (watermark, size, quality) you will get errors.

I suggest uploading smaller images if you lack space. There are lots of tools for batch processing available.

Of course you can disable the full iamge view by removing hte full image link from the theme's image.php. Also there are full image protection settings. See also the permissions enry on the troubleshooting page on our user guide.

Ah, so there is no way to use imagemagick/gd to re-size the uploaded image?

No, it is just not how Zenphoto is working. But where is the difference between already uploading smaller images with some offline tool (Photoshop or whatever) or resizing them later? Zenphoto does currently not support Imagemagick.

I'm not going to be uploading the photos, clients will be uploading the photos using the Zen upload tool. I'll just advise them that their limits have hosting and to always check the sizes of images, and if possible resize them before uploading.

I see, it's always a good idea to "educate" clients a little..:-) Especially as their shared server might have limits regarding processing large images anyway (there is a troubleshooting entry on that btw if you need a resource).

Thanks for all your help again acrylian, you've done a lot for me over these few days! If you ever need a UI doing, I'll pay in kind: info@traxor-designs.com :-)

I've written my clients a tutorial, so all is good. ;)
