Theme from scratch

Hi, which thme is the best to create its own theme from scratch ?
I mean a simple thme with less CSS, but with functions. Yes I need to see functions in actions because it's hard to find something in the fucntions documentations.

Please read the theming tutorial and look at the default theme which is quite simple.

Thanks. I didn't noticed there was this tutorial since march of this year.
I already know zenphoto and its structure which is quite simple compare to phpbb or even wordpress.

So as I know CSS, XHTML and a little bit of php and MySQL, I'm gonna read this tutorial and the functions documentation to built my own theme from the beginning.
