I believe my account was hacked- what now??

the majority of my pictures aren't showing up - I've gone from 20+ albums down to 3. When I try to log on, I get an error message. And when I send myself a reset link, I don't receive anything. It's my fear that someone has hacked my zenphoto account and changed the contact email. What are my options?? Thanks in advance,
Laura

So what error message? Really you always need to tell the exact one if you want us to help.

If you want to reset your password on your site you have to follow this:
    http://www.zenphoto.org/news/i-forgot-my-admin-password-now-what-do-i-do-
    http://www.zenphoto.org/news/i-am-having-problems-logging-into-the-zenphoto-administrative-pages

You should also take a look at the database via a tool like phpmyadmin to see if the email adress has indeed been changed before following the above instructions.

The reason could also be a database change on your server if you are really unlucky. We cannot say. It could also be that you run an very old Zenphoto release that is not compatible with a server upgrade anymore.

In any case you should also look into your server access and error logs. And if you really think you were being hacked you should also contact your host.

Additionally I recommend to re-install Zenphoto to be sure nothing else has possibly been hacked of course.
  • The error message is that my login is incorrect. I'm not sure how to look at the database or install/re-install Zenphoto -- I've only ever used the online access, I don't have anything locally installed. I contacted the host of our domain and they informed me that without Zenphoto login info, they were unable to help me. Thus my dilemma. I'm a simple user hoping to recover years of photos, I'm frustrated.

You must have installed Zenphoto on your webspace/webserver somehow. You must have some credentials to that webspace. If not your host can tell.

Perhaps you used a 1-click install provided via your host. In that case your host must be able to help, too. Point your host to the first link I posted above. That is the only way to workaround for an forgotten password.

Probably you are on an outdate Zenphoto version as well (you did not tell), otherwise there also should have been a link to request a reset of password via the mail address attached to your user account. But if there is no mail attached it also come down to above instructions.

But if you are indeed being hacked, you should do an reinstall in any case to be sure no files have been hacked. In that case your host should be able to help as well, especially were they did come from.

I am sorry, we cannot help as we are also not involved in your installation.
