Yes, that is what I had tried but didn't work. On upload tab it was: "upload to / " Then under "Make a new album", publish was checked and in the "called" box I typed in the name of the already created album (ie PhotoAlbum_2007) that I wanted the new subfolder in. In the "with the folder name" box I typed the name of the new folder and uploaded an image. However, what resulted was a another album named PhotoAlbum_2007 in the gallery with uploaded image. What did I do wrong?
My issue: base album created, ie PhotoAlbum_2005. When creating I made a subfolder for WestPoint 2005. That worked fine. But when I go back to upload tab to create another folder within PhotoAlbum_2005, the drop down select is "WestPoint_2005 (PhotoAlbum_2005)". I don't want it to go into the WestPoint folder, I just want to be able to select PhotoAlbum_2005 and create another folder in there. But that doesn't come up in the Upload drop down. I want to put multiple folders within PhotoAlbum_2005. How do you do it? Thanks!
1. Thank you, I now can make the subfolders! However, within my album outside of the subfolders there is loose photo. When viewing the album, I clicked on the image and choose Delete Image>OK, it's still there. How can I get rid of it?
2. How can I gather loose photos in an album and put them in a subfolder in that same album?
Normally you should not get "loose photos" as you always upload to an album. Best ist to use FTP and put them into the folder (album) you want directly. You also can move albums and images on each album and image edit page.
Thank you so much! I used the edit page and it worked.
1. Is there a universal way to disable the "allow comments" and "visible" check boxes that come up automatically check when I go to upload photos. I don't want to have to individually deselect them each time. 2. What is the procedure for uploading photos using ftp
1.a "comments": You can disable comments on the options. 1b "visible" checkbox: Images and albums are per default visible/published (why would you upload them to a gallery if not..:-)). However there is a utility "scheduled content" on the admin overview page to change the default state.
2. You can just upload folders with images to the `albums` folder to get albums (and of course also folders with images inside of folders). Zenphoto is filesystem based and will discover them when you either visit the albums edit page or someone visits the site.
How did you upload the Zenphoto files in the first place? Basically you use the same technique but store your albums and images in the `albums` folder.
the guy at Hypermart told me to put them in the photos file. Which I had to make. So I need to put them in the albums file - now we are talking about on hypermrt - right? I am FTP movies that are larger than the 10mb that they allow. I need someone to tell me where to FTP These files so that they will work with ZenPhoto
Zenphoto installation will have created a folder named `albums` in the same folder you uploaded the distribution to. That is where it will look for albums (folders)
Setup the album structure you want on your PC then FTP that complete structure into the albums folder in your Hypermart Zenphoto installation.
I didn't set up a folder - I got on Hypermart and went through the motions. So what am I looking for. They keep telling me that it is in my File Manager and I can't find it. I'm a little lost here........... is there somewhere that I can go to read about how to do this. I feel like I am wasting my time.
You need to access the webspace where Zenphoto is installed. There you find the `albums` folder. Note I don't know Hypermart and if that uses any install script like SimpleScripts we won't be able to support that.
Ok it has now been called by different names - do you want to go back and read your own posts. So where is this cache/albums/photos whatever it is called folder - where do I find it. I'm not sure where to look on Hypermart. But none of those files are in my folders.
Please review http://www.zenphoto.org/2008/08/zenphoto-glossary/. We have been very consistent in telling you that your albums and images go into a folder named 'albums'. (6 times, I have gone back and read the posts. You should probably do the same.) As to where that is on your installation, we cannot possibly know better than what we have already said--it will be in the set of folders that go with your zenphoto installation.
It sounds very much like you have used some sort of install script, possibly supplied by your ISP Hppermart. We cannot possibly know what such software is doing. You will have to deal with your provider.
Finally, you need to get some education on what FTP is and what MySql databases are. You will find that you cannot FTP into a database. All access to data in a database must be gated by the database software.
