I installed Zen Photo with simple scripts and set the user name and password during the set up process. Now that it's installed I've tried logging in and I keep getting told that the user name or password is incorrect. Frustrating. Help?
Yes, I did. It didn't work though. So what I'm going to do is, tomorrow, I'll have a go at installing it myself - hopefully I'll have better luck because it looks like great software.
Please address your problem to the simple scripts authors.
Either that or start over with an absolutely virgin site and use the standard zenphoto installation procedure. We have no idea what simple scripts is doing with passwords. We have had multitudes of users report problems similar to yours with simple scripts (and other third party install programs.) But it is impossible for us to provide support for their products.
I understand, sbillard. I'm going to be doing the installation myself today (and maybe tomorrow - there are so many files to upload). When I'm done if there are any problems I'll report back. Thanks.
Alright - I think I have a functional install. I can log in and get to the admin area, BUT, when I ran the setup page there was a pretty long list of errors. If it's OK I'll just post some of them here:
"Warning!
You should consider disabling magic_quotes_gpc. For more information click here."

"Warning!
Setting mbstring.internal_encoding to UTF-8 in your php.ini file is recommended to insure accented and multi-byte characters function properly."

"Warning!
When this option is not in effect, file and folder permissions are relaxed. This could constitute a security risk so it is recommended that you enable Strict Permissions. However, on some servers Zenphoto does not function correctly with strict file/folder permissions. If you enable this option and Zenphoto has permission errors, run setup again and disable the option.

NOTE: This option applies only to new files and folders created by Zenphoto. You may have to change permissions on existing ones to resolve problems."

And perhaps the most troubling was a VERY large table of files that are either missing or their filetimes, whatever that means, are out of variance.
The warnings are explained actually. If you don't need the functionality mentioned you can ignore them. Also please search the forum, there are loads of threads about this.
The filetime warnings may not cause any harm, but I would recommend to upload all files of the package again to be sure (sometimes ftp client make mistakes, too).
I've sorted out all but the filetime warnings. I didn't use an ftp client but rather uploaded every individual file manually, one by one, painstakingly. I think I'll leave the task of reuploading the lions share of the files for another time.
At least I've gotten it to work though. Thanks for making this software and making it available to everyone.
You really should get an FTP client, there are lots of them out there. Besides the convenience factor you otherwise you will always get this filetime warning.
I wiped all of my previous work off the server, found and downloaded Filezilla, sat back and got blown away as the program transferred all of my files in a matter of minutes. Wow. Thanks for turning me on to the miracle of FTP file transfer.
As an aside all of the filetime warnings are now gone. Cripes.

So - have I messed up the installation somehow?
