code? what code? and another problem

I am just a few hours into this and unfortunately, am already frustrated by my own ignorance about code. My webhost told me I could disable right clicking (copying) by putting in this code that I found on Google. Where do I put it? Other forum topics talk about changing code and putting in code and taking out code - moving the watermark to the middle by changind line 231....where is all this code? I know nothing about webdesign. My site is kind of cheezy, and I was hoping zenphoto would spruce it up a bit. But I am getting so frustrated, I might just give up.
I tried linking my zenphoto to my website, but when you click the link, it tries to take you to www.catherinesphoto.com/zenphoto/page/www.catherinesphoto.com. At first, it worked great and took me back to www.catherinesphoto.com. Now, not at all. Why did it change?
Is there anyway to put contact information on zenphoto or do I just rely on my main website?
Can anyone help me? Or am I too far down the food chain and in way over my head?
Thank you for any feedback....
Cathy

  • Hey hun,

First, take a deep breath. It sounds like you're trying to do too much at once.

I don't know about the copyright code, all I know is that when I did it on my old site, I had to do it on every album/image page. This may not be the case with Zen.

With the linking, it sounds like Zen is linking to the wrong place. If you want to link the gallery to your homepage you enter [Just ignore the spaces]:

    < a href="http://yoururl.com/" >Go Back To Home< /a >

and to link the homepage to the gallery:

    < a href="http://yoururl.com/whereeveryourgalleryis" >Gallery< /a >

Make sure that you're linking the right place, that may be your problem. Also, read the code twice. Sometimes, Its just a little thing that makes a big mess.

Just to note disabling the right click is a useless measure. If someone view an image it is already downloaded to the browser cache. Also this disabling can be enabled by simply disabling javascript in the browser anyway.

If you need contact information you can use several things like creating a custom page, using the contact form plugin and/or using the Zenpage CMS plugin.

Since you seem not familiar with website coding at all I strongly suggest to learn a few things and also read our theming tutorial.
  • Thanks very much for your assistance and your patience. The last time I wrote a code, it was for the computer to spit my name out 10 times. I think that was 1998. Not sure.
I will look at the theme tutorials, though I didn't see that last night, looking through all the tabs. I did figure out a few of the things I was having trouble with. A little sleep does wonders. But I still haven't found any place to add the above mentioned code (Which I can surprisingly follow up there). I have a photo shoot tomorrow, so I am hoping to figure this out a little bit by then. Again, I really appreciate your time, patience, and understanding. I am not complaining about the program, only my lack of...smarts.
  • okay. I have found out a lot of stuff since I first posted. Now, I am just wondering about where this code is so I can input the changes? I find all the files on my server, but I don't know where to put these changes mentioned above. I am also not finding themes tutorials. Is that somewhere else on the web?
    thanks for your help :-)

Maybe you did notice that we have a website on www.zenphoto.org ?...:-) The theming tutorial is on the user guide section of our website. Also there is this sticky forum thread named "Forum rules and usage resources: Please read before posting!" on http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=3760 which also lists some resources
