Problems when upgrading to 1.2.6

The admin toolbox is not displayed after I upgraded from 1.2.4 to 1.2.6.
Could this be due to running PHP version 5.1.6? I have contacted my ISP (Web Hero) about upgrading to 5.2 or higher.

Also, I cannot locate the PHP.ini file referred to in the ZEN Photo Troubleshooting Guide. I need to edit it to correct some warnings displayed with the Systems Check.

  • Your service provider will have to tell you how to find and edit the PHP.ini file.

I doubt that the admin toolbox is related to your PHP version. Are you sure you are logged in? It won't show if you are not. Also be sure that you deleted the pre 1.2.6 plugins (and other zenphoto files). If you still have the filter-admintoolbox one around it might be the problem.

Before installing 1.2.6, I removed all the files and folders from 1.2.4 except for the album and cach folders. I will look around for the filter-admintoolbox file.
My host can move me to another server with version 5.2+ on it. I will ask them about the location of the PHP.ini file.
  • It would be good to move to PHP 5.2+, but it should not be necessary. Please also check your CGI logs to see if there are any errors being reported.
  • The web site has been moved to a new server that uses PHP v 5.2.9.
I still do not see the "admintoolbox" displayed in the upper right corner as with ver 1.2.4.
I have searched for "filter-admintoolbox" and do not find it.

Also, when using slideshow the page height is twice as high as the other pages. A lot of blank space between the bottom of the images and the footer info. This is different than with v 1.2.4.

    Any ideas?

  • You did not answer the question about DGI errors. Also it would be useful to know the them you are using.
  • Where should I look for the CGI logs?

The theme I am using is Effervescence oktoberfest.

Here is link to a sample slide show.

I am using UNIX on the Host. Default browser is Firefox. I test with Chrome, Safari, Opera, and IE8. I use Mozilla FireFTP for FTP utility. Development computers use Win XP and Vista Home.

Regarding the CGI logs you will have to ask your host.

Btw, I see the slideshow issue. Probably a html/css mistake.
  • Waiting to here from tech support at my host about the cgi logs.

I was able to restore the admintoolbox display by logging on to admin using an old saved link in the history file of my browser.
Here is the url that was saved and worked to restore the proper functioning on the toolbox.
    http://www.trageser.us/gallery/zp-core/admin.php?from=/zp-core/admin-options.php?action=saveoptions#.

I am not sure why this solved the problem or what the options after the 'admin.php' do.

The only issue remaining appears to be the oversized slideshow page. I have been searching the various css files for 'height' assignments without success so far.

Any suggestions as to which css files I should look at closer, and which div name would be involved?
  • Sounds like you were not logged in before. The admin toolbox link is not there unless you are logged in as an administrator.
  • I was logged in previously because I could use the admin pages. It must have been that something in my ZenPage did not know I was logged in until I used the login shown above.
I found the problem with the over sized sideshow page. It was at line 173 in footlinks of the slideshow.css stylesheet. The 'top' value was set to 625. This may have worked in an earlier release when footlinks was part of an open division.
  • Thanks. Will fix the slideshow css
  • Thanks for a great theme and your support.
Although I am an engineer and experienced VB6 developer with some HTML programing experience, I am new to PHP and CSS style sheet usage. Customizing the ZenPhoto theme pages has allowed me to learn much about these tools, although I have a long way to go.

Keep up the good work with ZenPhoto. I really like the Efferescence+ theme for my personal web gallery. This is a non-commercial site for sharing full resolution images with family and friends.

I also use Picasa and myfamily.com for some of their features.

    Thanks again!

  • Yes, that theme is nice. It is the one I use on my personal site as well. Thus the more than fair share of work that goes into it as opposed to the other themes. (Like acrylian with the Zenpage-default theme.)

But sometimes you just do not notice when things have got broke. I use the simpleviewer personality on the live site, so hardly ever look at the slideshow page.
  • My problem with the AdminToolbox not displaying when I have logged in as administrator has returned. The problem returned after I was experimenting with turning the gallery user sign-in on and off. I have returned my admin options to as they were before, Password is blank or off, and still no admin toolbox is displayed when I am logged in as admin. I can log in and out repeatedly and the problem is the same. Am using efferescence+ with Octoberfest.

Did get error report from hosting company for previous problem period. Nothing showed up in that report related to this type problem.
  • Problem has gone away. Seemed to clear up after browser update was installed.

  • If an admin user goes to the website where the gallery is located and opens the gallery to view, shouldn't there be an "Admin Toolbox" tab there?
Yet you say "Are you sure you are logged in? It won't show if you are not." (sbillard, Chief Developer). If I need to login to add pictures, I need the "Admin Toolbox" to login. If it is not there then I cannot log in. This seems like a catch 62. I have a second admin that I do not want going to the server to login to the gallery to add pictures. What am I supposed to do.
  • You can access the admin back-end via URL by adding `/admin` to the end of your gallery's URL (eg. <domain>.com/zenphoto/admin). Also, you can activate the `user-login_out` plugin to be able to place a link to login on your site, though your theme must support this.
