setup.php not creating a zp-config.php

I'm trying to upgrade from zenphoto 1.1.5 to 1.2.6. I've followed the instructions but although the setup screen is showing when I click 'Go!' it doesn't create a zp-config.php. This results in an endless loop with trying to browse the photos only leading to setup.php being run again.

I've tried copying the zp-config.php from the backup of my old installation. However this results in a blank screen when I try to browse my photos (however the admin interface works, with albums displaying there).

Any ideas? I'm on dreamhost but using my own installation, not their 'one-click install'.

    Check file permissions on the zp-data folder. That is where the configuration information should be stored. You should see your zp-config.php file there.

    You can also try moving the zp-config.php file from your old installation into that folder. Not sure if that is what you did above. The end result you want is one zp-config.php file in the zp-data folder.
