How can I change who is master administrator?

The installer and first user of a Zenphoto installation is marked as the 'master' administrator. How can this person pass on their role to another administrator, please? I've searched for 'master' in these forums and also in the User Guide, but found no answer. (I'd hope that deleting the master administrator would produce a dialogue either denying the request, if there was no other administrator - or asking which other such user should be the master, if there was.)

I note that the DBMS table zp_administrators doesn't have any explicit column to mark a user as the master, and that both administrators in my installation have the same value in the 'rights' column. No help there.

  • Actually, the "first, most priviledege" user is the one marked master. If you delete the master use, then the designation will devolve to the user who is then the "first, most priviledged" user.

The only "advantage" that `master` provides is if you happen to delete all the users with ADMIN rights then some user will still be most privilidged and will temporarily aquire ADMIN rights. This is to let you straighten out the mess you would have made by deleteing everyone with the priviledges to manage the gallery.

  • Many thanks - I meant that I couldn't see a way to pass on my 'master' status without deleting myself, but didn't really want to do that. Now you've confirmed that that that is the only way (?), I've done that and then re-registered myself as an ordinary user. The other administrator will re-mark me as (non-master) administrator.
  • As I said before, there is really nothing special about the master usercode. So if you have the same rights as the other user, you are the same. If you have lesser rights then you would not be marked as the master.
