hide unpublished menu links

My admin users are finding it confusing when they see menu links that are unpublished.
I understand they can log out or use a different browser but it would be good to preview exactly what is live quickly
Is it possible to change something in admin or on the code to prevent unpublished links from appearing on 'printPageMenu'
or does this require some very complex coding?

    Yes, there is a plugin named "show_not_logged-in". This will then cover all behaviour like images and albums as well.
