Creating subalbums

I have a Gallery (Eglises de la Gironde). Under that I created an album (test) to which I uploaded a few photos. Now I'd like to create a few albums and subalbums under Gallery like what I'll need for real and I'm stuck, as I can't figure out how to create an album/subalbum structure from the Zenphoto administration area. I'd like an album named for example Auros with several subalbums like Notre-Dame and Saint-Germain into which I would upload photos.

Help.

    That's really straight forward:

    Way 1: Backend > Upload

    - Upload to: Here select the album you want to create the subalbum to with the dropdown
    - Then a checkbox appears "Make a new album". Check that.
    - Give the album a title
    - Upload images to it.

    Way 2: Use FTP
Just upload folders with images to the album folder within the root `albums` folder.
  • Since I'm using Zenphoto at DreamHost with their easy, one-click creation of Zenphoto, I don't have access to the albums folder. I'll eventually install Zenphoto there manually so I can use ftp, but for the time being, I'm having to do without. So, I'm forced to use your option 1.

When I go to the Upload tab of Zenphoto administration, I have the Upload to: pull-down menu. There are currently two choices, / and test. I want to install an new album at the root level, so I leave /. I want to create an album (that will contain only subalbums and no photos), so I type the name Auros in the album name area. Unfortunately I don't see a choice to create an empty album. Must I upload one photo into this album, so that I can create it? If so, I will later delete the photo, as the album should only contain subalbums.

Yes, with the uploader you have to upload something.

We really recommend to install Zenphoto manually. We got often reports of issues with one click install tools which we of course are not able to support.
  • Got it - I'll upload something into the parent album and later delete it.

And thanks for the advice about doing a manual install.
