Guide to importing articles from another CMS?

Hello!
I saw an old post about if there are any tools to do the imports, and there are none. I would be willing to take a pass at writing one, but where can I find some descriptions about the data and the tables?

    The zenphoto package includes a pdf of the general database setup ("docs" folder).

    There are some tools for other galleries but none for a CMS (Extensions section)I always planned a tool for wordpress but due to lacking time (and current need) I never got to that. Such tools would be very welcome. Best try to do these as a plugin (best would be a "ulitility" for the backend).
