My Gallery is not SEO Friendly

Hello all. My problem is that google webmasters tool says that my web has almost 1000 pages indexed, but if I look in google for site:http://photoshopsp.nixiweb.com I receive just a few results with the descriptions not good at all.

What could be my problem ? some info missing somewhere ? It's really rare because my site was indexed by google months ago but I get allways the same results.

Many thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English.
Regards.

Such answers are never easy. You are using a theme that is heavily Javascript powered on the gallery part. Search engines always had problems with that.

You should be using the sitemap plugin to generate proper links they can follow. Also in oldelr Zenphoto releases the included robots.txt file was pretty strict setup so it blocked search engines as well. So maybe you still have that or forgot to modify it.

Also it could be that such a generic image collector site does not really rank good anymore (sorry if you took all the photos yourself actually!). Google changed its algorithms in the past quite a bit.
  • Many thanks for your quick answer .. Yes I took all of them ;)

I used the sitemap plugin in the past but it was the same so I disabled it. Do you recomend me to enable it ?

What theme do you recomend me to be the most seo friendly ?

About the robots.txt I modified it, just disallowing zp-core.

    Regards.

Well, the sitemap file helps search engines to find burried links like those within js stuff. I would give it another try. Might take some time for re-indexing and of course you need to submit it to the search engines either direclty or via robots.txt. (see the docs what link to submit).

zpArdoise is actually a good theme. Doesn't that have an option to disable the gallery part as it is now? Then I would try that first.
  • I don't know .. let`s try ;)

Just another short question. After enable and run sitemap plugin, should I move the generated sitemaps to the root directory ? I think that it's recommended by google to do it.

    Best Regards.

No, you don't need to move it. You can directly submit a sitemap to google or point via the robots.txt file. All links within are absolute so that should not be a problem. If google really requires that (which I never heard of actually) you have to copy all sitemap files. Zenphoto generateds an index file and several extra sub sitemaps for the different item types.

The image results on google seem to be limited generally nowadays.

(For your info: our site is pretty well indexed and we don't even use our own sitemap!).
  • Many Thanks Acrylian. Your support is really apreciated.
