Upgrade problems - please help

Hello!

I had a rather outdated version of 1.2.5 and tried to upgrade using simplescripts (I'm hosting on Bluehost)

I have tried to upgrade to 1.2.6, 1.2.7 and even 1.2.8 and it has only caused catastrophic errors.

Either I have lost my comments, or my stats, or the names of photos, or all three. A few times my comments have been replaced with some error on some line directing me to my root folder.

Once I tried backing up my 1.2.5 version, creating a completely new 1.2.8 install, uploading albums only and then initiating a restore of my 1.2.5 in my 1.2.8 version. That was the closest I got to a result but the comments were all assigned to the wrong pictures!

I even tried the above without the restore and tried to input the comments manually, not ideal and even less ideal when I realised I couldn't edit the dates of the comments.

Tinkiering further has only led to 404 pages.I would be really appreciative of any advice or suggestions.

  • Please refer your question to the authors of `Simplescripts`. We do not provide this tool nor can we possibly support it.
  • A fair and valid point. May I then slightly alter my question - is it possible to export pictures with comments and stats from version 1.2.5 and import them into an entirely seperate fresh installation of 1.2.8?

There is somewhere a solution for upgrades with SimpleScripts by a user that we eben

(it is also listed on our troubleshooting)

Current Zenphoto versions have the feature to backup the database (not sure if 1.2.5 had that already). But you can always backup your database manually. You can't export your images itself, they are stored on the filesystem.

Anway, the recommended install is the manual install, it's really not that hard.
  • I took your advice and installed manually and it worked! I think you guys are great - thank you! :)
