.mov playback with flvplayer instead of quicktime

Hi, I'm trying to playback .mov files from my canon 7d in zen. Plays ok with the quicktime plugin, but wont allow me to choose resolution ...seems stuck at 380 x 520. I tried to switch to flowplayer...activated plugin in plugin options, but when i go to page to play movie, I still get quicktime playing the video? do the video's need to be reencoded or do i have to do something else to get flowplayer or flvplayer to work?

  • The `class-video` plugin needs to be enabled for any of the Flash players to work. In fact, I believe if you don't have this plugin enabled, the browser will dictate how the video is displayed, which is why the resolution is stuck. The options for this plugin should give you the ability to change the size of the player as well.

Flowplayer and flvplayer simply do not support Quicktime movies. We probably should make that clear on the plugin description but there are links to the player's own project sites as well.

Quicktime movies always are handled by the browser but the Quicktime plugin is required to be installed on the viewer's system/browser. Regarding the display dimensions you can set that on the options of the mentioned class-video-plugin.

If you want to play movies with one of these two flash player you indeed need to convert theme to .flv or .mp4 formats. Note the built in mp4 Format of Quicktime sometimes does not work, these players are a little picky about the setting details. See the player's sites for info about that.
