User and password confusion...

Okay, I am new to this and have the latest (stable 1.2.9) downloaded and installed. Let me start by saying that I love the product and find it better then anything else out there I have tried. And I have tried a lot. Here are a few questions though...

1. Is there any way to have the front index page show complete including thumnbnails and still have the albums protected? I like the lock image on the thumbnails, but I would also like the album image. It just looks better then a cold index page with a bunch of blank thumnails. Oh, I am using the stopdesign theme so the Random Images and Gallery Data also goes weird with protected albums. This very well may not be doable.

2. I changed my first album to use a "randomly selected" image as the thumbnail but when I save it goes back to "most recent image"

3. In trying to accomplish #1 above I set the gallery password and then set the index to be unprotected. It still took a non-logged-in user to the login screen. Actually, it also would let me go to the register page. It was as if that unprotect option wasn't doing anything. Am I missing something?

4. I am glad to see development still going on here. It seems like Flickr and Facebook are killing the photo management tools. I love having my images under my control. Although, it would be nice to have a good Facebook plugin to push notifications to you wall. Maybe some day. :-)

Thanks for the absolutely wonderful tool. It is both simple and powerful and those are very hard goals to join together!!!

    1. No, because the sense of being protected is that no one can see the content.

    2. What browser? Any errors in your server error log or elsewhere?

    3. I will hand this over to my collegue sbillard who is hte expert on the login details.

    4. There was once one. I will surely not make one as I don't use Facebook but we welcome any third party plugin.

    Wow, thanks for the very fast response!!! Let see if I can provide the additional information needed. :-)

    1. I was expecting this. I didn't know if the thumbnails could be somewhere accessible. Or even the option to select an image for the album so one could be chosen that was okay to be viewed publicly. Just thought I would ask. :-)

    2. This is in FF 3.6. It did the same thing when I tried IE 7 though. I cleared the debug log and tried again a few times but nothing was dumped back in to the log.

    4. I currently have MyFBZen (My ZenPhoto Albums) working. Well kind of. Even this is only a partial implementation though. This was more of a wish. I will keep my eyes open going forward.

    Regards #3: There does seem to be some missing checks. We will fix this in tonight's build.
