"Save Changes" doesn't work.

I am having a problem with ZenPhoto. I am able to add/upload photos to ZenPhoto, but the problem I have is with adding captions. After entering a page's worth of captions, I click "Save Changes", but about half the time the captions do not save. When they do not save, the page refreshes but the green bar with "Changes saved" does not appear at the top of the page and all my comments are gone. Often I can hit the back button on my browser (which has the captions cached) and resubmit the page. Sometimes I have to do this half a dozen times or more to get the captions to save.

I am the admin of the web server, so I can check any logs you guys want me to. The server is running Windows 2003/IIS. The server runs TrendMicro's OfficeScan, which I disabled and it did not make a difference. The back end is MySQL and runs on the same server. I can not find any errors in the server's event logs. I do not run ZenPhoto in the default directory (I use "/photo"). From a client standpoint, I use Chrome but I don't think it's a client issue. I am using the default theme and haven't added or enabled any extra plug-ins. Other than this issue, I think everything else is working properly. I am running version 1.2.4 (3716). If you guys think upgrading would help I would try, although the last time I tried all I got was a blank screen after dumping the 1.2.9 files into the directory and running setup.php. If worst came to worst I could always move my pictures out, blow away the directory, and reinstall.

We can't support older versions so updating is always your best chance. Just follow the update instructions on our site.

But note as written on our site we do not officially support or test on Windows servers as we don't use them. It may work or may not. Although quite some users are running Zenphoto on Windows servers successfully. So I recommend also a forum search on the various issues.
  • I didn't figure there would be any official support for an older version (running on Windows, no less), but I thought I'd ask in case anyone else has run into this same problem. I doubled the amount of RAM in the web server last night from one gig to two thinking maybe I was having a timeout issue, but it didn't seem to help. I successfully updated 2 or 3 pages of comments before running into the same problem again.

I attempted to upgrade yesterday by copying over the 1.2.9 files into my directory, but all I could get at that point was redirected to setup.php, which was a blank white page and never seemed to do anything. I tried copying over my old config file manually, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I've been running ZenPhoto for a year or so at least now with no other issues. Hopefully I can get something figured out -- I really enjoy the product and would hate to migrate to something else!

Sure I understand but for issues with quite "old" versions the fix is mostly trying the newer ones.

If you get a blank page, there is surely an error in your server's log. Without that we are just guessing.
