Watermark on SOME photos only

Hello,

I am very new to zenphoto, so bear with me if the answer is evident.

I am starting to buid a photo database with health and safety equipment in the automotive industry. Amongst other things, I want to show a few forbidden equipment and practices. Ideally, I would like to show these photos with a red bar across them, to clearly emphasize that it is not a good technique. However, most photos will show good situations and won't have that watermark.

Is that possible?

  • Yes, of course it is possible. But since you say there are only "a few" I think you would be much better off just using a photo editing program to overlay on the image you upload.

Should you want to take a different course, You would have to somehow flag the images you want this overlay on. (Probably custom data or perhaps with a particular tag). Then your script would have to check for this flag and overlay the image. You can look at the "flag_thumbs" plugin to get an idea of the HTML for overlaying an image over another.
  • That's good to know. At the present time, there should not be too many of them, so I will probably "hard-watermark" them. But a few colleagues have suggested to have an entire section of "before and after" scenarios, in which case automatic watermarking would be more appropriate. Another added bonus – I think – of watermarking is that our 5 administrators, including one who lives 600 km away, would be able to download the original image, whereas other mere mortals would see the computer-screen-size picture with its watermark.

I am still in the early stages of development; amongst other things, I still have to modify one of the themes to get the "Auto Prévention" look and feel. But even at this early stage, I find the photo database very interesting, quite powerful (for our needs anyway) and easy to customize.

Just to add, it is possible to set specific watermarks to specific albums. So if you can divide your stuff to complete albums it would already be possible to do this.
