rying to make this software work for a couple weeks. Every time I get less far down the path to success rather than further. I started with v1.2.8 Installwent smooth started making albums uploading pictures then on creation of a subalbum it all crashed as it kept self replicating 88,000 more albums.
Deleted all and installed 1.2.9. That started well but after one evening got locked out of admin because it wouldn't accept my password anymore. I'm pretty sure I had an email entered properly but when using that captcha trick I get no password reset. Cant find if tha email was right because no access.
Next I tried delting the admin portion of the database per instructions and running setup again didn't work as I get this error message from setup.
MySQL Query ( SELECT * FROM `zp_albums` WHERE `parentid`= ) failed. Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1
Next I deleted entire DB and created new one then ran setup and got the sam error message. Just completely dead in the water. I know its a free software butI don't have time to spend like this. Does it ever get better rather than continuing downhill ?
Anybody got a suggestion on this new error ?
Steve

Regarding the email, for that one of the mailer plugins must be enabled and your server must be setup to be able to sent mails at all. There an email address must be defined Zenphoto should sent from. You might need to contact your host about that.
If we should be able to help any further please also let us know some details about your server (PHP, MySQL version and such)
Regarding passwords please also try this: http://www.zenphoto.org/2009/03/troubleshooting-zenphoto/#16
This time it won't even initialize the DB because of the above syntax error. Each time I get failure at an earier step in the process.

Could you maybe try the nightly build? I can't remember right now if but if this is a bug in 1.2.9 the chance is good it has already been fixed. Since 1.3 is scheduled for end of May trying that will help us, too.
