Can no longer display full size images

Currently running 1.2.9, not sure when this stopped working, but it used to work just fine. All images produce this error when I click on an image to display the full size image.

The Zenphoto object you are requesting cannot be found.

Thinking it may be a database issue, I have refreshed the database and the metadata. No effect. I am seeing this same behavior on a couple websites where I use ZenPhoto.

Any help appreciated.

  • Some other information may be useful such as the theme you're using. Does the problem still happen with one of the default Zenphoto themes? A link to one of the sites might help as well.

Are you getting any errors in your logs (Zenphoto or server)? You may want to try changing the value of the `DEBUG_404` define in `zp-core/functions_basic.php`. I believe that define might show some further info.

This is just a guess, but have you checked your `.htaccess` file? The `[L]` flag is common in those files. Perhaps one of the rules is malformed or something...
  • I am using the default theme. I installed ZenPhoto last summer as part of the one-click easy mode installs from Dreamhost, so I have no access to the code. They take care of maintenance and automatically upgrade to the latest published versions, thus I am on 1.2.9.

You can see what I mean at: http://photos.westcountysoftball.com/ and click through to any individual image and try to display the full size image. I have not found any errors other than what shows up on the screen.

One other piece of info: under Options/image/Full image protection, if I change to "download" it does find the image just fine and downloads it. But when I switch the option back to "unprotected" or "protected" I get the error.

Thanks so much for taking a look at this.
  • Ah, ha.

I installed ZenPhoto last summer as part of the one-click easy mode installs from Dreamhost, so I have no access to the code

Please contact Dreamhost. These "one click" installs are known to cause problems. Also we the developers are powerless to help any one using them as we have not a clue as to what they are doing (other than prompting posts such as this.)
  • I can try them too. But their install software claims no support for the installed apps, so it's shaping up as the classic finger-pointer... It was all working fine for months, hard to say what changed or when. Hope there is a simple solution. If not, I'll be left with little choice but to bail on ZenPhoto, sorry to say.
  • Hmm, the full image link should be pointing directly to the actual original file, not to a .php script. So it does look like a modified .htaccess or server config for your root folder is the likely culprit. Are you able to reinstall the original .htaccess file in your site's directory?
  • But their install software claims no support for the installed apps
Well that is true for sure. What good is install software that does not install correctly then provides you no recourse?
  • Zenphoto works just fine on dreamhost if you install it yourself and not through the one-click easy mode. It might work just fine also if you use the advanced mode of the one-click installs.

I'm on dreamhost and my site works perfectly: http://eyesofvenus.com

Update. Dreamhost did take ownership of the problem and resolved it, hats off to them. Not sure what the details are, but all is well in the world (at least my little piece) once again...
