Galleries Gone

I just upgraded to latest version and everything appears to have gone well. I'm not receiving any errors. However, I have no Galleries or Albums. When viewing my install (using the stopdesign theme) it reads:

Galleries 0
Photos 787
Comments 11

But I can't see any photos because there are no albums. What happened and how can I remedy?

Thanks!

  • what version did you upgrade from.

    what happens if you view it with the default theme

    can you see all the albums when you are in the admin panel
  • It was version .8, I believe ... can't remember exactly.

    Same result from the default theme ... no pictures show.

    Nope, the albums are not there in the admin panel ... it reads:

    ~~~~~~~
    Gallery Stats
    There are 787 images in a total of 0 albums [refresh].
    It looks like the images are still in the database, but when upgrading, it deleted all albums.
    Is there any thing I can do?
    Look via FTP or SSH and see if there are still directories in the /albums folder. If not, then it looks like something may have deleted them from your server. That might have happened if you overwrote the old /albums folder with the new empty one in the upgrade package, but that's not supposed to happen unless you explicitly tell it to ignore the old contents of the folder.
    So check it, get a new FTP client if it overwrote the whole folder. ;-)
  • Yup, I think the new empty /albums folder overwrote my old one ... the images are still in the datebase, however. Is there anyway I can create new albums and re-associate the images stored with the albums?
    If the albums and filenames are exactly the same, the database entries will still point to them :)
    If not, you can manually (or via a custom script) re-associate the database entries to the new files.
  • Sadly, nothing seems to be working. I can't believe I've got to try and re-create a year's worth of galleries!
    Sounds like we need a backup method... I'll add that to my list...
