Cannot edit news or pages in SVN version.

As of earlier today I noticed that trying to edit a News or Page item shows only blank content. The content displays on the public side of the site. I figured this would be a better place to post than creating a ticket, since it's such an obvious and major issue that it would obviously be noticed and corrected. But, in case it hadn't been noticed yet, I figured I'd post.

No errors show up in the server log or the ZenPhoto log.

Sorry, I can't reproduce this and I don't think we have not changed anything on single page/article editing since 1.3. I just tried with two of my local svn installs and adding and editing works as ever. Anything changed on your server maybe?
  • Huh, well that's not what I expected! Aside from keeping on top of the latest SVN code, the only changes I made were to the hit counter. And I already tried disabling that just to be absolutely sure it wasn't that before making the previous post. I'm also tracking the nightly Firefox 3.7 build, so maybe it's something quirky there also - I'll dig more and let you know what I find.

I did only try Safari 4.1 yet (my Mac is a little too old for 5..:-))

Update: Tried now with FF 3.6 and works like a charm.. Sorry..;-)
  • I've been using the Firefox nightly as well. I noticed problems with TinyMCE in which the editor is blank, though everything appears as it should if you toggle to the HTML editor. I'm not really sure why it happens.
  • Ahh, yes - viewing HTML source and toggling the editor both show the content, so it's definitely related to TinyMCE. I'll keep digging...

You two could try if the just today release 3.3.7 fixes it for you.
  • I'll look for that. I do remember a few days ago syncing my install withthe SVN, and removing a TinyMCE theme folder "zenphoto", thinking it was old and unused. It's not in the nightly builds or svn, so if those were required files, they probably should be, no?

I put 'em back from the 1.3 install, but still no good. Interestingly, if I click "toggle editor" to go to plain text, then toggle again back to TinyMCE, it shows up as expected.

I am sure the TInyMCE guys did not test it with a beta browser..;-) Yes, the "zenphoto" theme was a unecessarily custom made theme which also could be done by configuring directly (finally got to change that...) TinyMCE is also about to be turned into a real plugin soon (but that is not in the svn yet at all because buggy).
  • It works in IE, and News works in Chrome, but Pages doesn't come up at all (just shows the drag marker). So, it could be a Firefox thing.
  • TinyMCE 3.3.7 doesn't fix it, though it does seem to work well for me beyond this one problem.
  • Confirmed - using the latest 3.6 release of FF works, so it's something in the 3.7 nightlies.

3.7 is probably for a good reason not finished yet..;-)
