"Gallery" section disappeared from menu

I played with Menu Manager, trying to add new label etc. and 1) no labels or changes are in visible effect on site 2) whole Gallery menu disappeared.

sidebar.php was untouched.

using zenpage theme, 1.3, criminaltattoos.com

Any idea pls?

  • Sorry, I am confused by your message. Are there two sites behaving differently? Seems to me that the whole menu disappearing would constitute a visible effect.
  • Sorry you may be confused, I'm talking now about the other site than I've in profile, as mentioned: http://criminaltattoos.com/ (as I posted yesterday one question about my primary site tattoo-gallery.cz, nothing in common with this thread).

The criminaltattoos site already has some test albums, you can check http://criminaltattoos.com/japanese ... but in the sidebar it doesn't show any Galleries. It just disappeared this menu of Galleries. And also the menu should show some test "labels" which are also not shown.

I can mail you test login, if you provide me with your mail.

    Many thanks
  • My e-mail is in my profile. But maybe you can just post your menu tree. Maybe a screen shot of the Menu tab?
  • Yes, this may be useful for some other readers.

Here you are: http://whiterabbit.cz/menu1.jpg ...and the result you can see at url I already posted.
  • Ok, I have recreated this menu on my site. Except for some CSS issues all is working here. I am running the current nightly build, so I would suggest you try that and see if it resolves the issues.

My site is http://testalbum.sbillard.org, but I cannot promise I will leave this setup running for long. It is my test site, after all.
  • I tried as soon as I returned from pub tonight, the forum says 1hour ago, and the site is 404 :<
  • Can you give a clue, why it has disappeared for me? Sounds like it works for you at all - as what you write, i cannot access the testalbum site, as I mentioned 404.
  • The strange thing is, if I go through the code, which has some ifs about having the news on the index or whatever (which I'm having not), everything looks clear in the code and the menu SHOULD be visible, but it's not at all :<
  • The link sbillard posted had a comma appended, so you can remove that and the link should work. http://testalbum.sbillard.org/

From your image, everything looks okay, and it works on sbillard's site. Have you tried removing items from the menu to see if you can get it to work again? If you can pinpoint what exactly is causing the problem, it could help with debugging.
  • Also check error logs. Maybe there is some error occurring.
  • It works on your site, I can see now. I was tired yesterday so I didn't realised that coma in URL, sorry ;-)

I can see only setup_log.txt presuming debug_log would be created when an error occurs, what didn't happen. Or should I turn debugging somewhere on?

Ok, I deleted items to make it back to default and still nothing. I overwritten default sidebar.php to make sure it's untouched. Nothing.

Last idea I have is to make secondary clean install and try to find the causing difference.

Meanwhile I'm sending you admin login by mail.
  • Maybe I'm missing something, but I really cannot see your mail on profile ;-)

Does your theme have a call for hte menu function? It does of course not add itself automatically. Note that you have to address the menu set to get it to display (see documentation).

Btw, emails in the forum profiles are only seen for forum admins I think.
  • Yes, I use default zenphoto theme.

ps: mails - I think so too, therefore sbillard, I cannot get it this way I'm afraid.

Currently you seem to use the Zenpage theme. That should enable a custom menu set named "zenpage" by default as soon as the menu manager is turned on. If no set exists it should even create a full set automatically.
  • The error logs I am referring to are the CGI logs where PHP will place its error messages. Not the Zenphoto logs. Anyway, if you have not done so, please give the nightly build a try. As I mentioned, that is the version of software I was using. I do not know why it would make a difference, but it might.

I doubt that I could tell anything from actually loggin into your site. You have posted your menu, which seems correct and works for me. If there are no CGI errors, then try as kagutsuchi suggests and make one menu item at a time and see what works, when it fails.

Also, of course, check to make sure that some kind of server/browser caching is not "fooling" with you.
